WOODARD & CURRAN’S HIGH-TECH HAVEN: A MODERN MASTERCLASS IN OFFICE DESIGN

Woodard & Curran, a leading engineering, science, and operations company, relocated its new headquarters to downtown Portland, ME. Spanning 56,000 square feet across the fifth and sixth floors, the space is tailored to accommodate a variety of work styles. The strategic approach to technology within the space ensures that employees have access to the tools they need to collaborate effectively, whether they are working on-site or remotely.

At the heart of the office’s technological infrastructure are 25 versatile rooms equipped with state-of-the-art Microsoft and Logitech technologies. These rooms are designed to cater to various meeting styles and purposes, from open collaboration spaces to focused work environments. One of the standout features is the inclusion of roaming Surface Hub 2 devices, which are mounted on electric tilt mounts, allowing them to function both as digital whiteboards and drafting tables. All 14 huddle rooms are equipped with Logitech Rally Bar solutions that provide high-quality audio and video capabilities, making them ideal for smaller meetings and quick brainstorming sessions. Each room also features room scheduling capabilities through Logitech schedulers, streamlining the booking process and ensuring that spaces are utilized efficiently.

The medium-sized Microsoft Signature Teams rooms are among the most technologically advanced spaces in the new headquarters. They feature ultra-wide 105-inch displays and Poly E70 cameras, providing an immersive meeting experience that is particularly beneficial for hybrid meetings. The front row technology allows participants to see and interact with each other more naturally, bridging the gap between in-person and remote team members. For larger gatherings, the divide-and-combine room can be adapted to meet various meeting needs. One side is equipped with a front row 21:9 Jupiter display base system while the other features dual NEC 86-inch displays. Shure MXA microphones and overhead speakers ensure crystal-clear audio quality for all participants.

The commitment to technology at Woodard & Curran’s new headquarters extends beyond just the meeting rooms. We worked closely with the change management team to understand the specific needs and preferences of the employees. This collaboration ensured that the technological solutions were not only highly functional, but also user-friendly and intuitive. Comprehensive training sessions were a key component of the rollout, with two full days of drop-in training offered to help speed adoption. The entire space is designed to support a high-performing distributed team, with a robust network infrastructure and seamless connectivity throughout. Whether employees are collaborating in person or joining from remote locations, the new headquarters provides the tools and environment needed to work effectively and efficiently.
