Cloaking technology—seems like something straight out of a Science Fiction film. But what if Science Fiction could be Science Fact? Designtex, a Steelcase company, has done just that. They’ve created Casper Cloaking Technology, which is an innovative privacy film for glass walls that obscures or “cloaks” digital screens to outside views but maintains transparency.
In the workplace, this privacy film offers a revolutionary solution for keeping confidential and/or sensitive information from being compromised while still having a transparent and open office with glass-walled conference and meeting rooms. People can work collaboratively without worry—with Casper privacy film applied to your glass walls, anyone outside of the room will only see a black screen.
How does it work? Essentially, Casper Cloaking Technology blocks certain wavelengths of light emitted by LED and LCD screens that “blacks out” the screens to those outside the room.
The “cloaking” film is applied to glass walls on the interior of the room, keeping the walls transparent. There is an optional graphic layer that is applied to the glass on the outside of the room that offers a custom appearance. There are a total of 21 different graphic layers, with six that are Steelcase exclusives.

Casper can be applied to any clear, smooth glass, on both new projects and existing installations. It’s recommended for meeting and conference rooms and is designed to work with most LED displays that are 40 inches or larger. It eliminates the need for smart glass, decorative films, curtains, blinds and solid walls.
With Casper Cloaking Technology, transparency and privacy no longer have to be at odds.
